ABOUT
Me.
Hi, I’m Joel Phillips—a graphic designer who brings ideas to life through thoughtful, distinctive and memorable design.
Graduating from Texas State University kicked off a design journey that’s taken me from small studios to Fortune 500 companies—and even into running my own business. Along the way, I’ve worn just about every hat: designing packaging, directing photo shoots, leading branding projects, and everything in between.
I’m especially passionate about packaging and print design, logo and brand development, wayfinding/signage systems—and I occasionally dip into interior design projects for fun.
My work’s been recognized by the New York Type Directors Club, Graphis, HOW, PRINT, the Austin Ad Fed, and AIGA Austin. You’ll also find my designs in Creating Great Design on a Limited Budget and LogoLounge volumes 8 and 10.
When I’m not designing, I’m usually playing board games, treasure hunting for vintage signs, shopping, traveling or spending time with friends. Lately, my puppy Polo has been keeping me on my toes—and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

EXPERIENCE BUILT
ONE Detail AT A TIME.
Great design rarely succeeds on the big idea alone. It succeeds in the details—the dieline that needs one more look, the color build that has to hold up on press, the legal copy that changes at the last minute, and the brand system that can’t fall apart when one package becomes hundreds. Those are the details I notice.
I’m comfortable at both ends of the process: developing the concept and staying with it through adaptation, prepress and final vendor handoff. Because the best design isn’t simply impressive in a presentation—it holds together on shelf, on press and across every version.
The work has earned recognition along the way from AIGA, Graphis, PRINT, HOW, the New York Type Directors Club and LogoLounge, with published work appearing in LogoLounge volumes 8, 10 and 11.
